Got Gold?Cedar Creek Wins Gold!

One man. One mission: To brew beer.

Cedar Creek Brewery claimed a gold medal at the 2013 Great American Beer Festival® (GABF) competition. Presented by the Brewers Association, GABF is the largest national beer competition that recognizes the most outstanding beers produced in the United States. The top three winners in the competition's 84 beer-style categories were announced October 12 at the Great American Beer Festival awards ceremony held at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado.
Cedar Creek Brewery was recognized in the Belgian-Style Abbey Ale category for its Belgian Style Dubbel. The aroma is complex with a rich malty sweetness up front that blends into a caramel/Belgian candi sugar sweetness. There are also hints of dark fruits (raisins, plums, and a hint of cherries). The appearance is dark amber to copper and has a reddish hue to it. The flavor profile is similar to aroma, but with more complexity.
The 2013 GABF competition winners were selected by an international panel of 201 expert judges from the record number of 4,809 entries received from 745 U.S. breweries.
"The Great American Beer Festival brings together the most stellar brewers from around the country," said Chris Swersey, competition director. "Taking home a medal at this premier beer competition is truly a symbol of brewing excellence."
We are deeply honored to receive this award and would like to take a moment to thank our families, friends, and volunteers for contributing their time and talent. We will be brewing more Belgian Style Dubbel in the next few weeks. Keep an eye out for special tappings at your favorite beer bars.
Cheers!
